MORE FISHING.....

WEDNESDAY 14TH MAY..The great white hunter has gone fishing with Mike,we shall wait and see what he comes back with!
We had dinner up at the restaurant in the park, lovely food,Marinara for Buck and salt n pepper prawns for me with an Asian salad delicious...off course the marble cheesecake was a perfect finish to the meal! We'll be back again on Friday night!! One complaint mosquitoes here are unbelievable, they won this morning couldn't sit outside for morning coffee, drove me back in the van! Apparently as it gets drier heat ,they disappear, hurry up!!!
THURSDAY 15TH MAY... Buck came back with more crabs and they also got some cod and bream. He went into Mikes place and he cooked the crabs and we had them for dinner. I made an Asian salad and with the fresh crab meat, excellent and healthy!
Surprising how much meat you get from them!
FRIDAY16TH MAY..Off to do some sightseeing!
BERRY SPRINGS WILDLIFE PARK, listed as one of the must see in NT about 5kms from caravan park ,well worth the $25 each to get in,amazing! It's been there for 25 yrs and extremely well done!
Off on the bus to the aquarium!
Part of it was closed for upgrade but it was worth seeing...

The only salty,must be lonely!
Great eyes watching us !

Buck looking at the Baramundi dreaming of what could be caught!
Large rays....
Under we go.....

Colours are amazing!
Water lilys in full bloom in moat around dingo inclosure,3 dingos that are 3 yr old donated to park when they were abandoned by the mother, wandering around looking agitated. A group of school children camped the night at the park, not much sleep as the dingos howled all night!!
Better looking than I thought...
Great colour!
Man made sound lagoon, based on The Oollo Sandbar, situated on the Daly River.
Feeding the Baramundi, they make an unusual loud noice and splash when fed pilchards .....
Fish that spit, they spit at insects on branches hanging over the lagoon to eat, very accurate!
Time to feed the ship rays... 9 adults get to do it,I'm one of the lucky ones!
Tick that off my bucket list!
Very friendly, slimy and hard on top and jelly like feel underneath, watch out for your toes!!!!
3 barbs at the end of tail near their bodies, can be harmful but I kept my distance!! No Steve Irwin impersonations!

Back on the bus to the flight deck, something special!
Out comes the Black Breasted Buzard ,Errol a female but who can tell the difference, there is a guy over in the cages who lets them out one at a time and they are so well trained. She looks for a rock to drop on the egg to break it!
When it's smashed she gets her reward,an egg this size in the wild will sustain her for a week!
Her trainer and she has a wealth of knowledge!
Next, the parrots fly out, collect the nectar of the branch and take it back to another tree, this is how they pollinate trees etc.
Too hoot too hoo pops out of a hollow tree, Barn House owl,not sure why she has been woken but she is soon rewarded with some treats, dead mice!

As she flies past, you can't hear her ,neither can the rodents she's hunting!
Isn't she pretty and so soft to touch!
Hello Rufus owl,he likes to hunt during the day and puts on a great display of flying!
A kite, they come in a selection of colours, part of the raptors, birds of prey!
Jabiru, female,we win out with the looks this time, females dominate! Yes!

The eye colour tells you the sex of the Jabiru which live around water holes ,looking for their food amongst the reeds!
Off she goes! I was so amazed how they all knew their turn!
The Osprey, took him a while to come down,he circles around for a while to make sure he's the only bird,he drives of kites and his diet is fish only so there aren't as many in the wild as there used to be!
The trainer threw some fish into the water, down he came only to get his feet wet ,got it,up into the nearest tree,he transfers the fish from his feet to mouth mid flight.
Sea eagle, she came to the park after she was found in someone's care who didn't have a permit. She was well looked after.4 yrs of age ,not quite full grown as when she reaches 6 yrs of age her white is pure white and she is larger. The trainers take turns with her as she becomes fixated on one person and she needs to be handled by all. She watched our every move, extremely alert!

Beautiful!
Walked along the trail to the Nocturnal Enclosure....

Plenty of snakes, water rats, bats, hairy wallabies and animals I dont need to meet in the dark! Especially this brown tree snake who for reasons I don't understand was cage right next door to little gray rats, how frustrating for him!
Back to the cafe, nice sandwich for lunch ,stopped in a the Litcfield Pub for a shandy! An all round great experience! I've learnt heaps and I am in awe of the raptors!
