NORTHERN BOUND.........

Arrived at the Daley Waters pub,our second visit after 800 kms on the road, arrived at 4 pm and I reckon Buck was at the pub by ten past!! The temperature has risen, quick set up,shower and off to the pub to join him, enroute ,checked out the souvenir shop opposite and got my self a singlet as well as one for Buck. A gin and tonic wet the throat and we settled in for the happy hour, had some fellow nomads join us,our age for once and ordered dinner,Baramundi for me,Yummo !

Ah yes in the red dirt, again! Huge camp draft and rodeo starts tomorrow,Friday ,so the camp is pretty full!

Little ensuites in a row!!! Really clean and fairly new! Water is great, drinkable!

I'm back!!

Paraphanallia has increased over the years, money, undies, hats!!!

Still room for the inevitable pool table!

Free entertainment started at 5.30,sounded like he was a beat behind his guitar but easy enough to listen too! A host of foreign barmaids and workers at the pub who I think forget to finish their travels and don't go home!!

FRIDAY 2ND MAY...570 kms and we have arrived in Darwin, pulled into the Oasis Caravan Park at Howard Springs about 20 kms from centre of Darwin, most of the parks are in outer suburbs! Bloody hot,35 degrees and a bit sweaty ,although officially the dry season has begun.2 big loads of washing done and then a cool off in the pool then........

A brandy, lime and soda, sit back and enjoy the ambience!! I'm buggered, but will come good tomorrow and start exploring Darwin!!!

SATURDAY 3RD MAY.......deemed a day of rest although a quick trip to the supermarket was in order and I cooked our first homemade meal in a week and it was basic lamb steaks, salad and a cob of corn, perfect! Sunday morn after a sprinkle of rain the night before, looked heavy on the radar but not much rain! Slept with the air on on again ,not good! Come on dry season!! Gave Murphy a bath ,thanks mum, not!!! We left him in the van and took off to the Mindill Beach markets to feast off the food stalls!

The beach, when you look at the hazard signs, personally no swim for me but they have a surf life saving club!!!???

Got a few drops out off these clouds !

Look who we found at the markets,Rohan! Boys and their lamb shanks! There was a variety of food, lots of Asian and some French nougat which was my entree and icecream to die for ,2 scoops as I couldn't decide on flavour and some Vietnamese rice paper rolls for roughage as well as a veggie spring roll for an extra bit of curve to my hips!!! Might I add this is my 2nd alcohol free day this week, probably have had only a few more in the time I've been away!!

MONDAY 5 TH MAY.... off for a cup of coffee and let's see what else Darwin has to offer!?

Coffee with some friends of friends,Mike and Carol who have been in Darwin for a couple of years gave us an idea of where to go in the top,so redo our bookings! Mike is taking Buck out fishing and crabbing on Thursday. Home alone for me so I think I'll laze around the pool! Drove into the Waterfront at Darwin and visited the wave pool area!

Off the wharf!

Park on the Waterfront...

What am I tied to ??!!

Wave pool !! Wave goes for 20 min then stops for 10 mins, very tiring but well worth it !

$18 for the day ,great value, lifeguards on duty, good lookin too!!

This is a fenced in swimming area so no danger from crocs!

Jiplyoniong ( Jabiru) aluminium cast with italian glass tiles featured,by Janice Murray, these birds are found on the Tiwi Islands

Frangipani ,one of my favourites!

These tunnels run through the hills adjacent to Waterfront precinct,we toured them last time we were here, huge to run fuel through during the war but we're never used, now they full of pictures of the war times, amazing! A bit of history about the Japanese invading us that we never learnt about in school !
